RECORDED CLASS
Skill Level - beginner (I said what I said)
Pre-requisite skills - a working command of icing consistencies to include both 30 second flood and piping icing. You will be learning to work with thicker consistencies in place of looser consistencies to flood with, a skill that will take your dimensional work to new heights - literally.
————————————————
This recording is a permanent fixture of the Facebook classroom group created specifically for this class and will remain pinned in the “FEATURED” tab of the group without expiry. Also linked in the “featured” tab is a previously recorded pre-class that covers the consistencies and colours of the icing that you will need for this class and well as the preparation of this cookie for decorating (flood base). In this pre-class I will also be going over the basic decorating techniques you will need to execute the decoration of this stunning dress. I will talk about things like “icing to cookie ratios”, flavor parings that sold well for my wedding clients when I was still selling cookies myself, packaging options and so much more!
The cookie cutter for this class is available from Amarjit Kaur Nagpal who makes all of the cutters for every class I teach. You are welcome to shop this cutter, any of my class cutters and her own lovely designs on her Etsy page that is linked in the “Welcome Packet” email you will receive on receipt of your payment for this class. You will be provided with a hand cutting template for this class as well for those of you who will not be purchasing the cutter, you are welcome to use that template to create a cutter of your own with your personal use 3D printer. Please note this is NOT an STL file, you will need to make the file yourself, neither myself nor Amarjit sell STL files.
Your “Welcome Packet” also includes templates for projection on to your cookie. Please note I will be teaching this class in the manner that I decorate in and that does not employ the use of a projector. I choose to teach this way one, because it’s the way I work, and two, because I never want my students to feel that they can not achieve beautiful work if they do not own equipment like a projector. This packet also includes your icing colours and consistency lists, your tools and materials lists with a link to an Amazon class list that contains tools and materials specific for this class as well as some of the suggested packaging options I talk briefly about in the pre-class recording. It also includes recipes and practice sheets you may find helpful in your everyday cookie life.
———————————————-
You will receive two (2) emails upon purchase of this class - one stands as confirmation of your purchase, the other contains your invitation to the Facebook group created specifically for this class.
————————————————-
You will learn -
- pressure piping with thick consistency royal icing to create hyper-dimensional work
- colour theory and toning for accurate skin tones
- inhibiting bleeding from darker base colour to lighter overlaid icing
- bridged brush embroidery for both projection and sheer effect
And so much more!

Well I attempted the 🍆s today. LOL I need much more practice but I am loving the fact that I bought this class. Thank you 🤪😂🤣♥️♥️
Daily Cookie I’ve seriously learned more from you and hands (or rather cadaver feet) down, have grown the most in my cookie work from you than anywhere else. You’re been pivotal as a teacher.
These are obviously not finished but if I could give anybody advice I would 💯 recommend a class from Carla. She changed my flood game with her tips and tricks and tools she uses for the perfect flood. If you’re on the fence contact her! She’s amazing.
Since it is Thanksgiving week, I would like to take a moment to thank Carla for all she has taught me this year. Not only have you given me more confidence with my work but taught me how to turn my mistakes into a work of art on the cookie or how to fix them and not just throw the cookie away. I know the picture is not from one of Carla’s classes but this is an order for a customer that she encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and start selling my cookies.
Carla Franco
Cookie Artist and Educator
Hello and welcome to my little class shop!
My name is Carla and I’ve been decorating cookies since October of 2010 😳 I’m from and still live in Trinidad and Tobago (I have an accent, brace yourselves if you haven’t heard me talk before 🤣). Cookie decorating was never on my radar and I came upon it completely by accident. This was never meant to be my job but my uncle took an order from me and told me he’d already took a down payment for me so I had to take the order or else... and here I am! My background is no where near art related, it’s in aviation of all things... flying helicopters —-> cookie decorating, not the most natural progression and I’m still confused by it 🤣
I’ve been teaching cookie decorating since 2015, mostly in person until 2020 when Big Co-Co hit and I took things virtual. I stopped selling cookies and it was the greatest act of self love I’ve ever given myself! I have ADORED teaching virtually and I feel so honored that anyone wants to learn from me! I’ve made so many friends in my students and consider so many of them family now!
My absolute favorite style to work and teach in is realism... I’m super detail oriented and realism really just rings all my bells 😬! I don’t know that I have a specific style that is immediately identifiable as cookies that are immediately and obviously my work and I blame that on my ADHD lol. My mind is just constantly going and I’m always trying new things... which makes it sound like I make grand plans to expand my repertoire as a deliberate kind of thing but really it’s because I get bored very easily, sometimes even mid-cookie 🤣
I’m so thankful that you took the time to check out my little store and if you’ve made it to the end of this particular section, I apologize for the blabbing 😬 I look forward to teaching some time soon ❤️
